Groundhog Day is a traditional celebration observed on February 2nd in the United States and Canada. It centers around the folklore belief that if a groundhog emerging from its burrow sees its shadow due to sunshine, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If it does not see its shadow (due to cloud cover), spring will arrive early.
